Professional Development Committee

Description
The Professional Development Committee is responsible for providing training opportunities to nutrition professionals to ensure a competent workforce in WIC. This committee ensures and advocate for CDR continuing education credits at WWA events, and other statewide WIC events. It provides qualified speakers and represents the mission of WWA during the planning State conferences. The committee will also provide a session to meet the ethics component mandated by ACEND.
Responsibilities
- Meet with Current Chair by January following start of term to establish goals, review committee description, and strategic plan as it relates to said committee.
- Hold committee meetings quarterly or as needed throughout the year.
- Prepare a report to inform the Association of activities at the Annual Membership Meeting.
- Lead and delegate the work of the Committee.
- Report out current activities to the board monthly
2025 Goals
Establish a partnership with WAND for future conference planning and educational events.
Research online store for 2026 apparel sale.
Collaborate with the Connection Committee to facilitate virtual membership discussions, at least twice per year.
Write and publish scholarship policy to WWA Members on website by March 31st, 2025.
Host 1-2 virtual lunch and learn sessions with current nutrition topics relevant in the WIC population. Consider recording and sharing on our website.
